After loading up our tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, and grocery supplies, we set out on a Karen dugout dinghy called ‘MV Khlee’, from North Wandoor beach on the main Port Blair Island in South Andaman. It was early, and the sun was sparkling gold across the gentle ripples of the sea. On the way, we passed some spectacular islands such as Grub, Chester, Redskin, Alexandra and Jolly Buoy, which are all part of the Marine National Park.
Jahaji is a protected area and entry to tourists is strictly prohibited. As researchers we were lucky to have got permits from the Forest Department.
