A Journey into the Big Blue
Sumer Verma has been diving in the waters of India for the last 20 years. His experience as a dive instructor and underwater photographer has earned him several national and international awards. As part owner of Laccadives, he is a passionate educator and constantly endeavours to increase public awareness about the beauty and fragility of the underwater world.
In this talk at the Nature inFocus festival, August 2017, he showcases his incredible body of work, a journey into diving and underwater photography. The beginning, the challenges of the transition from wildlife to commercial shoots for film and television.
Sumer also lends his time and images to ReefWatch Marine Conservation, serving as an active Board Member and Advisor on coral reef protection projects. He divides his time between the Andaman Islands and Mumbai and has done over 6,000 dives in Indian waters. He specialises in underwater imagery of all kinds – wildlife, advertising, fashion and film – and his work has appeared in books, magazines and a variety of education material.
