Chopta, in Uttarakhand, is often called mini-Switzerland, a hat tip to its beautiful meadows and evergreen forests. On a clear day, it offers excellent views of the imposing Himalayan peaks of Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi. I pitched my tent here, and hoped that the clouds would clear. At around 8pm, the skies finally obliged. I lost myself in the stars, and tried to make some photographs of the Milky Way too. The good weather was short-lived, though. It rained heavily that night, and I discovered that my tent leaked.
