The Indian Elephant is a species in crisis. At last count, its population hovered around 30,000 in the wild. Every one of these animals is increasingly threatened by human encroachment, traffickers, and loss of habitat.

To celebrate Save the Elephant Day on April 16, we’ve paired our favourite images of pachyderms with elephant quotes worth remembering.
