Female Indian peafowl, commonly known as a peahen (Pavo cristatus), standing gracefully on a low ledge surrounded by greenery.
  • Appearance: Unlike the brightly colored male peacock, the female features subdued, earthy brown and gray body feathers with a mottled white neck and a metallic greenish lower neck. 
  • Male is very attractive and best known for its wavy dance turning around 360 degree, wide spreading its long tailed feathers  like sun with rays to attract female. 
  • The breeding starts during the month of Sept-october. Female bird lays about 10-15 eggs. In a bush or in between long grown grass.
