Fading Rays

The image brings into focus the harsh realities of the fishing industry, which are often brushed under the carpet by its consumers. When fishers sort out their catch, the non-edible species are discarded on land, dead or alive. The Eagle Ray in the image will fetch its captors a few thousand rupees, but if the catch is a female ray, its gut is ripped open, and the unborn fish are disposed of as waste.
