What’s the Plan, Mr Mantis?

This is not a black-and-white photograph. It’s simply an image of a Stick Mantis waiting in ambush. The foliage creates a black stripe-like vision against which the discernible outline of the mantis stands out.

Anirudh Kamakeri is an engineering student and dedicated wildlife photographer from Dharwad, Karnataka, whose work focuses on documenting and understanding the biodiversity of his home region. Alongside exploring a wide range of species, he has been actively involved in studying and photographing canids in North Karnataka, capturing their behavior, habitats, and interactions with the landscape. Balancing academic life with time in the field, Anirudh uses his lens to share stories from the wild, from the stealth of predators to the delicate details of everyday life in nature, fostering a deeper appreciation for the wildlife around us.
