India’s flagship “Project Tiger” is the largest and most ambitious conservation project in history. Its success is celebrated around the world, but until now, the full story of this remarkable achievement has remained out of the public eye.

In 1973, then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, set up "Project Tiger" as a last-ditch attempt to halt the catastrophic decline of tigers in the country.
Over these 50 years, the world has lost almost two-thirds of its wildlife population, and yet, in the same time, India has doubled its tiger population and is now home to over 70% of the world’s remaining wild tigers.
It is an extraordinary achievement.
But, the road to success has been anything but easy.

Created to mark the 50th anniversary of “Project Tiger”, this feature-length documentary plays like a mystery thriller, full of scandal, intrigue, and political and social conflict that goes to the heart of India’s great democracy.
But ultimately it’s a story of hope. A story of Indian conservation told by Indian people, in a country where their deep-rooted connection with nature has manifested into a single movement.
This is the essential conservation narrative for our times.
