The whole of Ramanagaram looks beautiful in winter — whether it be the majestic Closepet and Revanasiddeshwara hills or the expansive reservoir of Kanva. When I travelled from Bengaluru to the Kanva reservoir (an hour-long drive) hoping to see the sun rise one morning, I never imagined it would look as magnificent as it did.
As dawn broke, I could see local fishermen on coracles casting their nets. A moment before the sun appeared, the distant clouds turned gold, the water began to shimmer and the purple fog started to melt away. Seemingly unaware of the unrealistic beauty surrounding them, the fishermen just went about their work while I stood transfixed.
