Cartoons in Conservation Communication

Rohan Chakravarty is a cartoonist, illustrator and creator of the series ‘Green Humour’ – India’s first internationally syndicated comic strip. With over 400 cartoons, Green Humour is the largest collection of environmental cartoons on the web; and appears in newspapers, wildlife magazines and websites. Other than comics, Rohan collaborates frequently with organizations and state-run boards to bring out illustrated awareness material on wildlife. Rohan has won awards by the UNDP, Sanctuary Asia, and WWF International for drawing for conservation.

At Nature inFocus, 2017, he spoke about shortening attention spans of readers in a fast digital world, where doom and gloom may not always be palatable, and asks if creative communication and humour could help the cause of conservation.
