CR Naik: Forest Officer and Citizen Scientist
Chandrakant R Naik, popularly known as CR Naik, is a forest officer, a keen naturalist and a citizen scientist. Over the years, he has worked with several researchers and has studied hornbills, documented the fruiting and flowering patterns of trees, studied spider and butterfly diversity etc
At the Nature inFocus Festival 2018, CR Naik talked about how he accompanied researchers and scientists into the forest, as a forest guard and later on as an officer, and eventually learnt so much about science. And, how his diligent documentation of frog species around his home led him to be a part of a new frog species discovery.
