Ganesh Raghunathan began his career as a freelance photographer, primarily shooting music concerts. He began working with Nature Conservation Foundation as a photographer, research affiliate and project manager in the unique landscape of Valparai, Tamil Nadu, in 2011, where his work primarily focused on understanding human-elephant interactions and finding ways to reduce conflict between people and elephants. Having now worked in Valparai for a decade, a major part of his photography and filming has inclined towards capturing the secret lives of elephants and the environmental factors affecting them. Ganesh’s team won the Whitley Fund for Nature award in 2015 for their work on addressing human-elephant conflict. He has worked as a consultant for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Odisha Forest Departments on issues relating to human-elephant conflict. He posts as @ganeshraghunathan on Instagram.
