TOFTigers, in collaboration with the esteemed Sanctuary Nature Foundation, organised the 6th TOFTigers Wildlife Tourism Awards at Bikaner House, New Delhi on December 5, 2023. The awards ceremony honoured outstanding contributions to sustainable and responsible tourism in the Indian subcontinent.

Established in 2010 to champion responsible tourism in India, the TOFTigers Awards has grown in prominence and significance, with past winners enjoying increased recognition and exposure for their dedication to sustainable tourism practices. By recognising and rewarding committed performers in the industry, TOFTigers aims to inspire others to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to the preservation of wildlife and the environment.

The John Wakefield Memorial Award for Eco Lodge of the Year 2023 was presented to three categories of TOFTigers lodges, which predominantly cater to visitors who intend to watch wildlife within an Indian subcontinent park.

Waghoba Eco Lodge, Pugdundee Safaris

Waghoba Eco Lodge is an eco-luxe resort set on a 12-acre land in an untraversed area in the buffer zone of Tadoba National Park. Since commencing its operations in October 2021, the lodge has set new standards for eco-friendliness and conscious luxury. The cottages at Waghoba Eco Lodge have drawn inspiration from the very best of eco-construction and have been meticulously crafted with local construction materials. The lodge has a 50 KV net metering solar plant which takes care of about 75 per cent of its power needs. A rainwater tank has also been installed for water harvesting, along with a water treatment plant to recycle and reuse water. A hide at the property overlooking an all-season water body is the perfect avenue for wildlife photographers.

The Mela Kothi-Chambal Safari Lodge is a pioneering eco-tourism project set within 33 acres of manmade forest painstakingly regenerated over two decades.
