When the fisherfolk of Tantadi Beach came across a Whale Shark trapped in a fishing net, they quickly moved into action. With the help of the forest department, they tethered the massive fish to a boat and hauled the animal into the water even as people worked to free it from the fishing net. No easy task considering that Whale Sharks weigh about 2000kg! The Whale Shark was eventually released from the net, and it swam back into the ocean. The fisherfolk were also compensated for their timely response.
