When feeding, pelicans push their bills underwater, allowing the lower bill to expand into a large pouch that fills up with water and fish. Just like this Great White Pelican, they will then lift their head and contract the pouch to get rid of the water and isolate the piscine. Now that's what you call excellent scoop technique!
