In Heat

The endangered Tibetan Wolves have enough to worry about as it is—their habitats are rapidly changing and shrinking, and their prey base is no longer as abundant as it used to be. But a significant looming threat is the presence of feral dogs. When Shiv Kumar photographed this image, the feral dog was following the wolf around. The canine seemed to be in heat and was probably hoping to mate with the wolf. Feral dogs not only cause bodily harm but also transmit diseases that can spread through wild populations.
